DaybreakOn Sunday mornings beginning at 8:00, we offer a 30 minute contemplative service of prayer, chant, and silent meditation called "Daybreak" preceding our service of Eucharist, which begins at 8:30AM. If you arrive at church between 8 and 8:30, please help us hold the contemplative space by entering quietly and joining us in prayer.

8:30 AM Eucharist
At 8:30 we transition from our time of contemplation to our Service of Holy Eucharist. If you arrive a few minutes early, please quietly take your seat, and join the Daybreak congregation in song.
We are an intergenerational worshipping community, and over the past several years, we have welcomed many new families with young children into our community. It is the shared responsibility of the whole community to support Kids in Worship. You can help encourage children to participate fully and attentively in the liturgy and invite them to join in important jobs throughout the service (see below.) What to expect: The Order of Service for Holy Eucharist, beginning at 8:30AM Alleluia refrain with Psalm of the Day Church Bells *children may help ring church bells A Song: Holy God as we Light Candles *children may help light candles Opening Prayer A Song: Gloria as we offer incense *children may help offer incense and sing and sign the Gloria (see below) A Reading from the Gospel * encourage children to stand with you and look and listen to the reader. Older children who would like to serve as readers should arrive early and coordinate with the vested liturgical leader Silence * encourage children to put a hand on their heart, close their eyes, and see how long they can feel or hear the sound of the bowl bell. (Explore other resources to help children practice entering the silence here.) Sermon & Sharing * some children listen best when they work with their hands. If a child near you needs help listening, offer them material to work with such as a tray of playdough, a box of felt shapes, or a finger labyrinth from the table near the kitchen The Lord's Prayer * children may help sing and sign the Lord's Prayer (see below) Procession to the Table *children may help lead procession with bread, wine, incense, and instruments Peace Great Thanksgiving Prayer * children may help support the prayer with a drone (hum) and sing and sign the Sanctus (see below) Communion Collection * children may play instruments as we sing an Alleluia Blessing *all gather to touch and sing to the people we are blessing Carol * children may help lead the final song and dance with instruments |
