And again, Jesus told them a parable.
Once upon a time, there was a king who gave a wedding banquet for his son. He sent his servants to call those who had been invited to the wedding banquet…
but they would not come.
- Ever throw a party (or plan an event, or prepare a liturgy, or cook a meal etc.) and worry that no one would show up? Ever have it happen?
But the people who had been invited made light of it and went away,
one went off to his farm,
one went off to his business,
and the rest seized his servants, mistreated them, and killed them.
- Ever find the courage to try again, only to be laughed at, dismissed, or even hurt?
But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing a wedding robe, and he said to him, `Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding robe?' And the man was silent.
- Ever offer someone a gift, and have them refuse it? Ever ask someone a question, and have them completely ignore you?
I wonder where you are in this story, or what part of this story is about you?
